Samuel J. Starks has over 30 years of experience in the practice of elder law, estate planning and health law. He holds a law degree from the Loyola University of Chicago School of Law, and an undergraduate degree from Michigan State University.

Sam is currently in the process of retiring from the practice of law. For further details, please refer to the page headed “Retiring Letter”.

Prior to entering the private practice of law, Sam was employed by the Office of the Inspector General of the federal agency that administers the Medicare and Medicaid program. He has also served as an adjunct professor of health law at Pace University Law School, and has served on the board of directors of the Southwest Connecticut Agency on Aging, the Stamford Senior Center, the Smith House Health Care Center, and Silversource (formerly known as Senior Services of Stamford) as well as the ethics committee of VNA / Hospice Care. Over the years he has frequently presented to professional and civic groups on the legal issues involving elder and health law and estate planning, although he will be doing much less of that as he attempts to retire.
